NIHON BUYO

THE SERENE-NIHON BUYO

Dancing. Beauty, controle, calmness and awareness. The serenity cultivated for centuries. Searching for the perfect dance.

Tokyo, Japan. November 24 2017

The Japanese dance has a long history. Nihon Buyo is a refined dance that has been improved throughout 400 years.

The most significant part is Kabuki Buyo. Nihon Buyo was created directly from Kabuki Buyo. Nihon Buyo takes a few key elements from Noh. Such as the circular movements and the musical instruments used in its dance.

A short introduction about the history of Kabuki Buyo.

Kabuki Buyo began in 1603. When Izumo no Okuni, she was originator of Kabuki Theater. She began performing this new style of dancing, singing and acting in the dry riverbed of Kyoto. But why? The riverside is tax free......

Then the dance of women changed dance for men. It was changed and developed to Kabuki Buyo.

I have to introduce about Kabuki Buyo and Noh in the near future. It is a quite complex subject....

This week I visited the practice room of Nihon Buyo. There is a Ichiyama Ryu style that is one of the oldest schools in Nihon Buyo. And I was able to meet and interview with Mr Matsujuro Ichiyama.

That day, she, a disciple , was practising the dance of : Ka ni Mayou "to get lost in incence." The story is about this: A man {Fukakusa no shosho} was fescinated by the beauty of a woman { Onono Komachi}. She promised that if he can commute her 100 nights, she accepts his love....But just one day to go, on the 99th day he died. He froze to death outside her house...

It was very much snow....

It was a sad story....

I asked the master, Matsujuro Ichiyama, what he thinks during the dance. He said he concentrates in the world of themesand conveys with dance to people.

I feel its so beatiful about their moving of hands and feet, and their eyes expressions. I am so interested in Nihon Buyo that I keep in touch with this beautiful culture. I will visit there again.

I really appreciate his kindness, that he explained so politely about Nihon Buyo to me. I want to thank him for doing so.

THE SERENE-NIHON BUYO

Dansen. Schoonheid, beheersing, kalmte en bewustzijn. Het serene eeuwenlang gecultiveerd. Zoekend naar de perfecte dans.

Tokio, Japan. 24 november 2017

Kabuki Buyo ontstond in 1603.
